First Half of 2016 Sees £50M+ Property Sales
Published on 1 July 2016
Over £50M worth of homes were sold by Perthshire property bosses during the first half of 2016, with some home selling in a matter of days.
In six months, Perthshire Solicitors Property Centre’s member firms have sold 305 properties totalling just over £51M. Breaking that down, the average house has sold for £167,799.
The second quarter of the year was a significantly better one for PSPC, with just under £29M worth of sales in April, May and June. April was a particularly strong month, with more sales than April 2015.
Comparing the statistics to this time last year, Anne Begg, Manager, PSPC commented, “As is often the way, we have seen improvements in some areas and slight dips in others. Although sales are down on last year, we have seen reasonable stability in the market and it’s a good market for both buyers and sellers at the moment. Although no-one has a crystal ball, we would hope that this stability would continue.
“Due to there being a little less stock available to house hunters, properties are generally selling amazingly quickly, many within just two weeks and sometimes over the asking price. Looking ahead, we would hope that more stock would become available to house-hunters because, by adding more properties to our ‘for sale’ portfolio, we can hopefully invigorate the market further and boost people’s confidence in putting their home on the market.”
