Growing Team Gears Up For Dundee Science Festival 2014!
Published on 24 April 2014
Dundee Science Festival is looking for a host of new, weird and wonderful event proposals for this year’s celebration.
With the festival team growing, having recently appointed Nicole Pearson as Festivals and Community Engagement Officer to join fellow new recruit Laura Wilkie, Festivals and Community Engagement Manager, plans are now gathering speed for Dundee Science Festival 2014 which will run from 1 until 16 November.
With seven months to go, Dundee Science Centre is actively seeking new events which truly stretch the boundaries of science in its many forms, both from existing partners and other organisations and individuals seeking to get involved. For the first time, festival organisers are introducing three strands to the main scientific festival programme – Health and Fitness, Food and Drink and the Arts – hoping to attract a wider and more diverse audience as well as an even broader range of partners and events.
In order to apply to hold an event during Dundee Science Festival, an event proposal form must be submitted – forms can be obtained from Dundee Science Centre and must be submitted by Friday 2 May for consideration.
Laura Wilkie, Festivals and Community Engagement Manager said, “There is no doubt that Dundee Science Festival has successfully made its mark on the city’s annual events calendar but, we are actively seeking to stretch people’s definitions and perceptions of ‘science’ which means so many things to so many people. Science is not just about labcoats, chemistry and physics – it’s about what we eat, drink, wear, do in our spare time, how we keep fit. Science is everywhere and we want to unearth it wherever it is, and bring it to the public’s attention in a fun, interactive and engaging way! If you’d like to get involved, and have an idea that you’d like to share, then get in touch!”
Proposals can be submitted from organisations or individuals, with forms available via email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01382 868609.
