Lego Fans: We Need You!
Published on 4 October 2017
As children (and adults!) throughout the UK prepare for the release of the new Lego blockbuster, The Lego Ninjago Movie, Dundee’s Wellgate is challenging Lego fans to construct their own brick empire … and win some Lego in the process!
A host of free, fun activities have been lined up for children aged up to 12, giving them the chance to get creative with Lego during the first week of the October holidays (Monday 9th until Friday 13th October 2017). All events will take place on level 2 from 12 noon until 4pm.
Lego themed art activities will run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with Lego building on Tuesday and Thursday.
Come along and make your own lookalike Lego with egg boxes and bottle tops or create your own Lego printed clay creation to take home. Younger visitors will love dipping Lego in paint to design their very own, colourful Lego people! Alternatively, why not try your hand at some good old-fashioned Lego building? Let your imagination run riot and construct whatever you wish, with some artistic guidance from our very own Lego fanatic artist helpers.
What’s more, what does Dundee mean to you, and can you build it? Create your own local place or thing from Lego, whether it’s the V&A Dundee, RRS Discovery, a park or football ground and you could win your very own Lego kit from Wellgate’s very own toy shop, The Entertainer! *
Peter Aitken, Centre Manager, Wellgate said, “As a Lego fan myself, I’m delighted that we’re focusing on Lego during the school holidays. Lego is one of those universal toys that unites people of all ages – not just the kids but their parents and even grandparents. As excitement builds for the brand new Lego movie, we’re looking to give our visitors a slice of the hype by providing lots of free Lego inspired activities, from traditional Lego building to using Lego in different, artistic ways.”
