Santa, Snow and Reindeer Herald Wellgate’s Festive Season
Published on 14 November 2016
If it’s family festive fun you’re after as Christmas approaches, it’s all in the bag at Wellgate.
This Friday, 18th November, Wellgate will be transformed into a Winter wonderland with reindeer, snow and, of course, the man himself, Santa!
Come along and meet our crowd-pleasing, retail-loving reindeer, Jingle and Bell, from 2-5pm outside the glass lift on Level 3.
The fun steps up a gear when school ends for the day, with lots of family-friendly, seasonal activities within the cosy confines of the Centre.
With a not-to-be-missed mini show from Funbox from 2.30 until 3pm, the ever-popular Santa’s grotto then opens at 3pm. There’s also a Christmas karaoke from 3.15pm until 4pm, with balloons and antlers to take home, and selfie fun with a festive photo frame!
Visitors can then enjoy some local street-dancing, traditional carol-singing from the fantastic Penny Stephen, music from Tay FM breakfast show’s very own Erin Linton, and face painting.
Of course, Wellgate is also the main sponsor of Mission Christmas, which supports needy children in Tayside as part of Cash for Kids. The toy appeal raised over £205,000 last year and, with the renowned generosity of Dundee communities, Wellgate is hoping to break records this year, with Collection Central on ground floor. Mission Christmas will be launched at 4pm – why not pop an extra toy in your basket and donate it while you’re here?
As you might have guessed, we’ve saved the best for last with Wellgate Christmas lights switched on by Santa and Courage the Cat at 5pm. And, as is our tradition, we promise you snow, whatever the forecast. A truly magical sight to see, bring your children along for an after-school treat forming snow angels on the ground floor!
