Have you got what it takes?
During Dundee Science Centre’s energetic Easter Show, visitors will explore how top athletes prepare for the challenges of a lifetime! How fast is the fastest human? What do a marathon and a mountain have in common? Can you guess what a weightlifter eats for breakfast?
The exciting and interactive ‘Speed, Strength, Stamina!’ show, which is being held in conjunction with Abertay University’s Sports Science Department and Dundee Academy of Sport, will run from Saturday 29 March until Tuesday 22 April 2014.
With a high-energy, 30-minute show running regularly throughout the day, and a challenge-filled, drop-in sports zone, ‘Speed, Strength, Stamina!’ is ideal for a family audience and is included as part of normal admission.
Rebecca Erskine, Science Learning Officer (Exhibition and Public Programme) said, “Our interactive show will explore speed, strength and stamina by looking at how top athletes train their bodies in order to go for gold! With a focus on training and nutrition, we’ll discover what a sprinter, weight-lifter and marathon runner need to do to achieve their top performance, with plenty chances to take part, volunteer and find out how to keep ourselves fit and healthy.
“Meanwhile, the drop-in sports activity zone will allow visitors to take part in challenges including grip strength, speed mats and the long jump, while finding out more about their bodies.”
Dundee Science Centre is open daily from 10am-5pm. For further information, please telephone 01382 228800 or visit http://www.dundeesciencecentere.org.uk.
