Leading Scottish tax and business advisory specialists, EQ Accountants LLP has announced three Partner promotions.
EQ, which has offices in Dundee, Forfar, Cupar and Glenrothes, has promoted Rachel Bell, Scott Greig and Robert Young from Principal Managers to Partners, effective from 1 April 2020.
Since joining the firm as trainees, Rachel, Scott and Robert have shown dedication and commitment to their ongoing development, both professionally and personally, and have continued to provide a significant contribution to the firm and to their clients.
Rachel (33), from the Dundee office, joined the firm as a trainee in 2008. Following her success in the ICAS exams, Rachel specialised in taxation, qualifying as a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) in 2014. Rachel has extensive technical expertise in corporate taxation, is a key member of the firm’s Research and Development Tax team and heads up the firm’s Transaction Tax group, dealing with business restructures, purchases and sales.
Scott (31), based in the Cupar office, commenced his CA traineeship with EQ in 2009, qualifying in 2012. Having moved from the Forfar office in 2015 to strengthen EQ’s agricultural expertise and build relationships with both intermediaries and clients, Scott has been instrumental in the success of the Cupar office over the years and is key to its continued development, both in terms of his agricultural and commercial sector knowledge.
Robert (33) joined the Forfar office as part of EQ’s school leaver programme in 2003, working his way through the grades and successfully passing his ACCA exams along the way, becoming a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2013. Renowned for his agricultural expertise, Robert specialises in personal taxation, particularly succession planning, inheritance tax and executory taxation. He is also the lead of EQ’s Private Client tax group.
All three were promoted from Senior Managers to Principal Managers in April 2019. Alongside their achievements within EQ, Rachel and Scott were named on the 2019 ICAS ‘Top 100 One Young CAs’ list, while Robert was recently recognised as part of the Accountancy Age ‘35 under 35’ list.
Celebrating the promotions, David Cameron, Managing Partner said, “On behalf of EQ, I would like to congratulate Rachel, Scott and Robert on their well-deserved promotions. As excellent examples of ‘home-grown’ talent, all three have completed their training journey with us and have demonstrated a consistently high standard of dedication and commitment to their careers, and their clients.
“We continue to make a substantial investment in the training and development of our staff, supporting them to achieve their potential as both accountants and business advisors, ensuring that the advice and support they provide to their clients is of the highest standard.
“Rachel, Scott and Robert are not only first-class accountants but some of our best young ambassadors. I am proud to see them achieve their goals and pave the way for the next generation of trainees, proving that there are no limits to what can be achieved through hard work and commitment.”
