Merger to Create One of the Largest Independent Accountancy Firms in Scotland
Published on 20 November 2014
Dundee is to become home to one of the largest independent accountancy firms in Scotland with the impending merger of two practices.
Dundee-based EQ Accountants LLP, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, will join forces with Carters, who are based in Glenrothes, with effect from 1 April 2015.
With four offices in Dundee, Forfar, Glenrothes and Cupar, the merged firm will employ over 100 staff, including 16 Partners. With plans to grow further and recruit into a range of positions within the months ahead, the merger will increase EQ’s turnover from £4M to £6M. No redundancies will be made as a result of the merger.
The ambitious development will pool the considerable strengths and talents of Partners and staff from both firms to create an even more vibrant Scottish business. Most important of all, the merged firm will deliver a broader and more comprehensive service to both existing and prospective clients.
Speaking from his office in City Quay, David Cameron, Managing Partner, EQ said, “It is vital in any business to continue to move forward, and to reinvigorate on a regular basis. Accountancy is no different, and at EQ we continually strive to lead the marketplace. The potential benefits generated by amalgamating with Carters are endless, with their excellent reputation for delivering quality service to clients throughout Fife and beyond.”
“As well as strengthening our depth of expertise and extending our geographic reach in sectors such as agriculture, the merger will also present great opportunities for existing Partners and staff, as well as those who we will be seeking to appoint in the weeks and months ahead.”
Meanwhile, Stephen Taylor, Managing Partner, Carters added, “As part of our steadfast commitment to each and every one of our clients, the newly merged firm will be well placed to exceed their needs and expectations.
“The merger is being made from a position of strength with two very successful practices coming together to create both an exciting and professional accountancy firm which will help our clients meet their business objectives and achieve even greater success. In addition, the stronger and larger firm, and its associated infrastructure and staffing, will also allow us to commit even greater time and resources to our clients, while maintaining the excellent personal service for which we are known.”
