All the Fun of the Fair for Dundee School-Leavers

Almost 100 Dundee primary seven pupils enjoyed an end-of-school celebration with a difference today (Wednesday 19 May 2021).

Ninety-six pupils, spanning three classes from Forthill Primary School in Broughty Ferry, descended on Dundee Science Centre for their first-ever leavers’ ‘funfair’ with everything from inflatables and science demos to popcorn!

The events are being organised by Dundee Science Centre in the absence of more traditional school leaver events due to COVID-19 restrictions.

As well as being some of the first visitors to try out the Centre’s brand new CONNECT exhibitions before the Centre officially opens to the public on Saturday 26 June, pupils sampled a range of celebratory activities.

Carlene Cura, Development and Fundraising Advisor, Dundee Science Centre said, “It’s been an extremely tough and unusual year for school pupils and, with those transitioning to secondary missing out on their usual parties, we thought we would organise a celebration with a difference. Not only do pupils get the chance to preview our brand new exhibitions but they can also try their hand at 3D pen jewellery and volcano making, play with robots and even don a Sumo suit and expend some energy with inflatable axe-throwing or basketball! With popcorn and a goodie bag to take home, we can promise them all the fun of the fair!”

Schools wishing to book a P7 Celebration Event before the end of term should contact Carlene Cura, Development and Fundraising Advisor, Dundee Science Centre – email carlene.cura@dundeesciencecentre.org.uk or phone 01382 868610.
