Cushions Raise £1300 for Dundee and Angus Food Bank

The sale of around 100 cushions has raised over £1300 for Dundee and Angus Food Bank.

Antonia Burnett from Saving Graces in Dundee and Terian Tilston of Terian Tilston Interior Design, by St Andrews hosted The Big Cushion Push on Saturday 10 December 2022.

The charity event gave visitors the chance to choose from around 300 new and pre-loved cushions donated by the general public and businesses across Scotland.  Others selected beautiful fabric remnants which had been donated to create cushion covers and even curtains.

Prices ranged from £5 to £30, with a staggering donation of £300 for one cushion alone!

Antonia said, “This winter will be incredibly challenging for many, so we wanted to create a fun and enjoyable event which raised money in the process.  We had set ourselves a target of £400 so we are absolutely amazed and thrilled to have raised over £1300.  It was heartwarming to see so many people pop in and browse, buy a cushion or two, or make a donation. We’d like to thank everyone who joined us and raised funds for some of the most deserving families and individuals living locally.”

Cushions which were not sold on the day will be donated to local charities.

Ken Linton, Manager Dundee and Angus Foodbank said, “We are currently feeding around 500 people each week and never cease to be amazed by the innovative thinking and kindness of our communities who come up with ideas, events and activities to fund our important work. We are exceptionally grateful to Antonia and Terian for their generosity in selecting us as their charity.  With the rocketing cost of living and the recent drop in temperatures, we continue to see a growing demand, including from people who never thought they would need to ask for support.  The money raised by The Cushion Push will put food on the table for countless families this winter, a huge achievement, so thank you again to everyone who bought or donated cushions on the day.”
