From Animal Therapy and Dancing to Upcyling: Mental Health Festival Returns

The Perth and Kinross Mental Health and Wellbeing Festival is returning this month, offering the local community a welcoming and inclusive space to focus on wellbeing and self-care.

Hosted by Perth-based charity Trauma Healing Together, the free festival will take place at Perth Concert Hall on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 January 2026, with the theme, Self-Care Beyond the Buzzword.

As well as celebrating self-careand empowerment, the two-day event will provide workshops, creative activities and community support for people of all ages and backgrounds.

The festival, funded by the NHS Tayside Charitable Foundation, will offer everything from upcycling workshops and nature-themed creative sessions to activities to support grief and emotional wellbeing. Visitors can also spend peaceful moments with animals from chinchillas to tortoises, sing and dance at the silent disco, or try their hand at bracelet-making and hair braiding.

Alongside 18 interactive workshops (nine each day), the festival will host 20 organisations providing information, advice and resources on mental health, wellbeing, and community support and the chance to explore practical tools and initiatives available across Perth and Kinross.

This year’s festival partners are Aberlour Children’s Charity, Archie’s Child Bereavement Services Tayside, Bipolar Scotland, Change Mental Health, Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), ESOLPerth, Home Energy Scotland, Home Start PKC, Menopause Café, Mind Space, Nature Connect – Crieff, Nest Creative Spaces & Craft Reuse Hub, NHS Listening Services, On the Mend / CATH, Perth Minorities Association, Perth Pride, Trauma Healing Together, Trinity Church Nazarene, Walled Garden PKAVS, and Y Centre Perth.

Roxanne Kerr, CEO of Trauma Healing Together, said, “The New Year can be a difficult time for many, particularly if you’re struggling with your mental health. But it’s also an opportunity to take action, even through small steps. This year’s theme, Self Care Beyond the Buzzword, is about empowerment, recognising that we all have agency to take steps to improve our wellbeing, whatever that looks like for us. It’s about moving past the clichés and exploring meaningful ways to look after our mental and emotional well-being.

“Whether you’re seeking practical tips to help with day-to-day wellbeing or managing a mental health condition, the festival provides a fully inclusive and welcoming space to take a break, connect with others and reach out to those providing support across Perth and Kinross, much of which is free of charge and tailored to individual needs.”
