Leaves, Crafts & Treats: Dundee Families Embrace Autumn!
Dundee families are being invited to celebrate the season with a range of free, autumn-inspired activities.
From crafting pumpkin bunting to exploring leaves under the microscope, local charity Signpost International is offering plenty of hands-on fun for all ages, with sessions running at The Roundhouse in Whitfield.

The October holiday programme runs over six mornings – 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, and 17 October – from 10am to 12.30pm. Each session is free, but booking is essential, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
Highlights include Dundee Contemporary Arts’ short animation screenings and art sessions inspired by the films, running on both Wednesdays. There will also be an autumn cooking class, where families can learn to make warming soups and apple pies from local, surplus produce donated by supermarkets and local farms. Meanwhile, children can enjoy making Halloween and harvest-themed decorations, including pumpkin bunting. Dundee University’s Life Sciences team will also show families how to explore leaves under the microscope and enjoy hands-on nature activities, with ‘How It Felt’ also offering autumnal arts and crafts suitable for all ages.

All attendees can also enjoy a community meal made from surplus food donated to the charity. These meals, prepared on-site by the Signpost International team, are part of the charity’s ongoing mission to transform surplus food into nutritious meals for those in need.
Steph Dolan, Education and Community Worker, said, “We’re excited to welcome families to our autumn sessions. There’s something for everyone, from cosy cooking classes and leafy explorations to festive crafts that capture the spirit of the season. It’s a wonderful way to enjoy the colours and flavours of autumn while trying something new together.”
