Miles for Meals

Dundee families are being encouraged to turn every mile of the Kiltwalk into 10 meals for local people.

Signpost International, based at The Roundhouse in Whitfield, rescues surplus donated food and transforms it into nutritious community meals, distributed through local foodbanks and larders.

On Sunday 16 August, the charity’s Roundhouse Rescuers team will take on the Dundee Mighty Stride, walking 20 miles from St Andrews to Slessor Gardens. Families and supporters can also join the Wee Wander, a four-mile route starting in Broughty Ferry and finishing at Slessor Gardens.

Steph Dolan, Education and Community Worker at Signpost International, said, “We believe small steps can make a huge difference, and the Kiltwalk is a fantastic example of how people of all ages and abilities can come together to create positive change. We’re inviting people to join the Roundhouse Rescuers team, whether taking on the Mighty Stride or the Wee Wander. Every mile walked will help The Roundhouse Kitchen turn surplus food into meals for local people, while reducing food waste.”

Alongside its food rescue work, Signpost International delivers free cooking lessons and family sessions during school holidays. The charity has also recently launched a community café, which is home to a new hands-on training programme supporting young people aged 14–22 who face barriers to employment or education.

Although based in Dundee, supporters can also join the Roundhouse Rescuers team at the Edinburgh Kiltwalk on Sunday 13 September 2026, either as individuals or as part of a team.
