Superheroes Brave the Bricks!

Many of us will be familiar with the painful experience of treading on a rogue piece of Lego. You’re walking along, minding your own business, when suddenly the unmistakable feeling of sharp plastic underfoot ruins your stroll!

Well, imagine this joy x 1000…

On Sunday, 11 June 2023, disabled children’s charity The Yard will hold its first-ever Brave the Bricks walk, challenging families to cross a walkway of around 6.5ft, filled with thousands of the pesky blocks!

The Yard works with children and young people aged 0-25 with Additional Support Needs through adventure play sessions in Edinburgh, Dundee and Kirkcaldy.

The service offers creative and inclusive play experiences in a well-supported environment, alongside wraparound support for the whole family, with a varied programme of drop-in, respite and transition youth clubs, early years, specialist sessions with schools, family play sessions, plus inclusive play and disability training.

Preparing for the event at The Yard in Edinburgh alongside 13-year-old daughter Serena Sinclair, The Yard CEO Celine Sinclair commented, “Most parents will know the pain of treading on Lego, especially barefoot, so we’re urging people to Brave the Bricks, find their own superhero and embrace their inner child!  By doing so, they can help raise much-needed funds for The Yard which is a lifeline support for so many local families, providing a safe and welcoming space for their child to play.”

Fundraisers are asked to commit to a fundraising target of £80, including a £10 registration fee to secure their place. All money raised will go towards the continued running of The Yard and its services.
