Don’t touch! Yes, do!!

Local toddlers will get the chance to be ‘TinkerTots’ next week.

As part of its Early Explorers programme, Dundee Science Centre is inviting children aged three to five years old to discover through play, asking questions and exploration.

‘TinkerTots’, which will encourage children to tinker with and explore how things work, will be held on Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 October 2019.

Amanda Dobrowski, STEM Learning Officer said, “Toddlers love to tinker and try things out so these activities will allow them to do that safely, to ask questions and to learn how things work. They’ll get the chance to make a catapult to launch a ping pong ball as far as they can and then encourage them to go back and modify their designs to get them to go further each time. We’ll have a storytime session which deals with perseverance and being true to yourself in the midst of what feels like failure, and then build gliders to go along with the story. They might be a little young to consider a career in engineering! – however, inquisitiveness is an important stage in child development and can open many doors to activities they’ll do both at school and in later life.”

Early Explorer events are open to both organised groups including nurseries and parent and toddler groups, and the general public. Sessions will take place from 9.30-11am and 1-2.30pm on both dates.

Cost per child is £4.75, with one adult free of charge. The price includes a healthy snack and time to explore the exhibition floor after the session. Siblings aged one to two years can enjoy a snack for £2.50. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

PRE-BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL. Food intolerances / allergy requests should be notified at the time of booking.
